Alexis Front joined the group in January 2023 as a postdoc. He is investigating the intercalation of ions in carbon materials using machine learning potentials. Alexis obtained his bachelor’s degree in physics from Grenoble-Alpes University then a master’s degree in materials science (2015) and a PhD in condensed matter and nanosciences from Aix-Marseille University (2018). During his PhD, he studied the atomic structure of Pt-based nanoalloys using tight-binding potentials coupled to Monte Carlo simulations.
Then he moved to Paris at ONERA-LEM/Paris-Saclay University as a postdoc. He contributed to the development of a tight-binding model where the magnetism is explicitly treated. In parallel, Alexis investigated the melting properties of bimetallic nanoparticles. Lastly, he focused on the atomic structure of intermetallic nanoparticles using DFT calculations.
